THE BRIEF
A private client approached me to help her host an intimate standing drinks reception with a grazing table for close friends and family. The event was planned as an early Christmas gathering and a thank-you to the people who had supported her throughout the year.
The client asked for 360-degree support, covering:
- Full tablescape and spatial styling
- Florals placed throughout the main entertaining room
- Menu design to complement a specific visual theme
The creative direction was inspired by the Addams Family - gothic, dark, and romantic. The menu needed to be entirely vegetarian, designed around ideas of abundance, generosity, and love, and suitable for a relaxed, standing format.

THE EXECUTION
The event was designed as an immersive, walk-around experience. The grazing table acted as the visual and social anchor of the room, encouraging guests to circulate and return to dishes throughout the evening.
The tablescape was layered intentionally, combining food, objects, and florals to create depth and a sense of fullness.
Florals were extended beyond the table and into the surrounding space to soften the room and create continuity between the dining element and the wider environment.
Alongside the food, drinks were an integral part of the experience. Guests were welcomed with flowing champagne service, alongside two signature dirty martinis offered throughout the reception.

The Result
The evening unfolded in layers. The main room centred around the grazing table and Christmas tree, whilst the adjoining room was centred around the dessert table and drinks.
Dessert was intentionally given its own moment. Set apart from the main tablescape, the Basque cheesecakes created a natural shift in energy later in the evening, drawing guests into a separate space and extending the experience.
Overall, the event felt intimate but abundant. Nothing was overly staged, yet every detail was considered. For the client, it landed as it was meant to: a warm, generous thank-you that felt personal, atmospheric, and entirely her.
the menu
A gothic cornucopia built for sharing. Entirely vegetarian, the menu leaned into richness through texture and contrast, charred, whipped, baked, and spiced, unfolding slowly across the evening.
Designed to be grazed, revisited, and enjoyed with a glass in hand, it was indulgent without heaviness and grounded in warmth, abundance, and ease.
